The Progression Marathon!

Within this post I am going to go through every stage which hasnt already been shown for the zBrush modelling.

Throughout the project i have saved each milestone of the modelling work in its own file so i have a copy of the journey. I then printscreened them all and saved them in order, i will go through all of them now.

First Save #1 [Side View]

First Save #1 [3D View]
Above or the printscreens of the very start of my work, this was the first milestone I got to, here the mouth hasnt been formed and there are other ulterations that havent been added yet, one of these is the front (horn) being turned into a nose. Also there is alot of detail missing but this is to be expected as it is the first model done of this time making this me trying to get the form of the head right first.

Second Save #1 [Side View]

Second Save #2 [3D View]
Here the progression is mainly seen for the mouth area, the teeth have been formed and the upper lip has also been made. There are slight changes to the form but nothing that is clear, although the bone around the mouth has had detail of a poor standard added and the shape has changed as you can see the side close to the edge of the mouth has form as well.

Third Save #1 [Side View]

Third Save #2 [3D View]
Here is my first attempt at hair, I used another SubTool to create this but i was finding it hard to get the shape right to add the band which ties th hair and wasnt sure on how to create the plait. There was a later version of this created which had moved on but still not to the degree with was to my expectations but due to my computer's zBrush crashing I wasnt able to show it as it wasnt saved. Within this screenshot you can see that i did make changes to the head, Here is the most recent stage of me changing the front horn into a nose.

I'm not sure why its not giving me the option to add captions anymore.

It seems that the side view of this stage has been lost so the 3D view is the only one visible. Here I was able to import plaits from maya which will be explained at the end of this post and i was attempting to attach using a different SubTool.

Here i have made detail in the hair which isnt plaited and also made a bobble which is holding the start of the connection from the plaited hair. This was done using another SubTool which was a ring, using the move tool to make it less curved and making it fit the form of the hair i then used the Dam_Standard to create detail and smoothed it out.

I found out I could seperate the SubTool's so i done that for 2 of the screenshots but there are not more progressed then the 2 above them. Here is currently the furthest i have gotten; here if you look at the side view of the SubTool's exposed you can see there is 2 bobbles tieing the hair together, the main root one and one at the end. there is also a small amount of hair which isnt plaited at the end of the ponytail. More detail has been added to the hair including the ponytail itself. Also i made the main bobble better with more detail. Lastly i added detail to the head where the hair connected using the move tool to make it more 'spiked' and i went around used the Dam_Standard then pinching it to create a fine line, but the line looked too 'perfect' so i used a small high intensity Dam_Standard and made it look more natural and 'messy'
This is my current model. i believe the hair is finished and now will add detail onto the head and then will move onto creating the body.

Today at college I had alot of technical problems. This is all the problems i had to day at college. Firstly when i came in i wanted to ask a tutor to help me with the model, on how to make a ponytail, after having to wait for Simon to be free when I was able to ask hi, he said about how everyone is asking him questions which seem to be about SubTool's sp he made a presentation first. when the presentation was over what i needed to know wasnt covered in the presentstion so i approched simon and while waiting attempted to do it myself, after asking for help from a friend it ended up messing up the software and i had to restart it making me loose what i currently had made. I then asked Drew for help and as he was busy asked Simon to help me, when Simon came over he gave me advice on how to do it and said how twisting in maya and zBrush is an option, he showed me how to make it in Maya first using surbs (i believe that is what these are called) and then shown me in xbrush but while showing me it crashed me once again loosing the work i had done and the demonstation didnt continue due to the crash. after i got it workign again i attempted to do the zbrush way but after not remembering some of the steps and knowing the end couldnt do it so i went into maya and use surbs and made the tubes, after exporting it wouldnt go into zbrush and attempted again by redoing the proccess. This still didnt work so after Drew was free i asked him, he said how it needed to be polygons, i then created it once again using polygons and exported it, but then i had SubTool problems where i couldnt move it around, i once again got help from a friend and once again the programme became messed up so i had to close it down and re-import the model again, i then after being able to get it into possition and size i wanted i attempted to create a new SubTool to make the hair pulled together from head to the first tie; i then had problems with that as i clicked move it would scale while moving. after getting home i started work right away to make up for the technical problems today, i beleive this payed off but i also feel that i needed way too much help and felt that i must have been annoying to constantly ask the tutors so many questions. Although the problematic day i was able to finish the amount i wanted to aim for today and was able to find out how to make a ponytail by the tutors guidence. What a day -_-"
